Ohio State University Boasts Record Applications

Officials say shiny new facilities including the $118 million student union that opened earlier
this year have helped to boost interest in Ohio State, which is one of the largest universities in
the U.S.
The number of students applying to the school jumped from about 21,200 in 2009 to 26,600 this
year.
About 60 percent of the applicants were admitted. From that group, the university says it
expects to enroll roughly 6,600 freshmen, about as many as last year.
Ohio State's fall classes are scheduled to begin Sept. 22.
